1. Job Description:
a. The Department of Psychiatry, Division of Molecular Therapeutics, at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons is seeking a full-time Associate Research Scientist position (dependent on years of experience). The candidate will work on a project that studies the impact of the 22q11.2 microdeletion on disease phenotypes related to psychosis, and will employ precision medicine-based approaches to identify more effective diagnostic tools and therapeutic interventions.
b. Under the supervision of the PI, the candidate will plan, execute and document a variety of experiments assessing the morphological and functional phenotypes in stem cell-derived cortical neuronal models of the 22q11.2 microdeletion in order to perform high-throughput drug screening experiments. The candidate will employ immunocytochemistry, confocal microscopy, electrophysiology, RNA sequencing, and proteomics to generate and characterize a 2D-neuronal model for drug screening.
