Siolta Therapeutics is seeking a highly ¬motivated and talented microbiome data scientist - bioinformatician to provide support for the companyâs live biotherapeutic development programs. The successful candidate will work closely with internal team members and external partners on experimental design, data generation and analysis, and interpretation of preclinical and clinical data. The successful candidate will be proficient in generating and analyzing complex NGS data, as well as interpreting and communicating findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
Essential Qualifications: ⢠Strong written and oral communication skills. ⢠Masters or Ph.D. in microbiology, microbial genomics, microbial ecology, microbial bioinformatics or related scientific field ⢠Experienced in experimental design, analysis, and interpretation of NGS microbiome data (Illumina, PacBio, 16S and ITS amplicon, Shotgun Metagenomics) ⢠Demonstrated aptitude in biostatistics, analysis of high-¬dimensional data sets, and the application of such methods to interrogate the human microbiome ⢠Proficiency in UNIX/Linux development environment with knowledge in at least one analytical language (e.g. R, Python) ⢠Must be capable of applying new knowledge and skills creatively while working both independently and collaboratively in fast¬ paced development environment Key Responsibilities: ⢠Generate, analyze, and interpret -omics and multivariate data sets. Communicate approaches and interpretation of findings to technical and nontechnical stakeholders ⢠Utilize multivariate statistics, hierarchical/mixed models, and machine learning to identify and visualize patterns in large data sets (metagenomic, metabolomic) ⢠Phylogenetic reconstruction from amplicon or shotgun sequence data, functional prediction (PICRUSt/KEGG) of microbiome data sets, functional genomic modeling, variant calling, qPCR probe design. ⢠Manage external partnerships (CRO, academic) aligned with Sioltaâs R&D objectives ⢠Contribute to the development of Sioltaâs regulatory (IND) and intellectual property portfolio ⢠Maintain current awareness of microbiome literature, emerging approaches and methods in microbiome genomic and systems biology analyses Who we are: Siolta Therapeutics is an clinical-stage biotech located in the San Francisco Bay Area focused on developing microbial therapeutics to treat or prevent inflammatory disease.
