Post-doc position in metabolic/evolutionary engineering of polyhydroxyalkanoates synthesis in Escherichia coliPosted by: São Paulo State UniversityPosted date: Jan-29-2020
Location: Rio Claro
One post-doctorate scholarship is available at the IPBEN, Unesp, Rio Claro, in São Paulo - Brazil. The FAPESP-funded position is available within the framework of the project âA novel strategy for anaerobic production of polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs)â. The successful applicant will join the groups of Prof. Jonas Contiero and Dr. Jeferson Gross (www.yeastevolution.com). PHAs are natural polyesters that are derived from bacterial fermentation and represent a natural alternative for production of plastics. The goal of the project is to apply state of the art synthetic biology, evolutionary and metabolic engineering strategies to develop E. coli as a platform for anaerobic production of PHAs from sugarcane-derived sucrose. The applicant must have a Ph.D. in a field related to Biology, Microbiology, Genetics or Biochemistry. The candidate must have solid training in E. coli molecular genetics, including chromosomal integration of expression cassettes and site-directed mutagenesis.
The application package must be sent to Prof. Jonas Contiero and Dr. Jeferson Gross (jeferson.gross ![]() 1- Motivation letter; 2- Updated CV; 3- List of technical skills (i.e., what the candidate can do in a lab); 4- Names and e-mails of three referees. Applications will be accepted and evaluated until 16/02/2020. The fellowship will start in the first semester 2020. |
