Research Associate Job Description Summary: A Research Associate is needed to assist in conducting experiments to understand the role of circadian clock in pathophysiology of chronic inflammatory lung disease models. The Research Associate will conduct independent research, remain abreast of developments in the field of lung circadian biology and develop novel research tools and methods as needed. These studies will be performed utilizing the in vitro (cell culture) and in vivo (mouse) model systems. Required Qualifications: MS or a BA/BS degree with appropriate experience with an emphasis in biological science, or a related discipline. Demonstrated abilities that include attention to detail, strong work ethic, and good interpersonal skills. Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics, or related fields, with creativity and scientific productivity (a proven record of peer-reviewed first author publications) in the related field of research. Strong work ethics and has the ability to work and collaborate effectively in a team. Need to have good oral and written communication skills. Prior experience in lung biology or any pulmonary disease models will be preferred. However, candidates with a track-record of scientific accomplishment and a strong interest in extracellular vesicles/exosomes, circadian biology and lung pathophysiology are encouraged to apply. Job Duties Outlined: Perform experiments using mouse models and cell culture to understand circadian clock role and function in chronic inflammatory lung disease (e.g., allergic asthma, cystic fibrosis, pulmonary fibrosis, etc.). Experiments will involve primary cell culture, flow cytometry, biochemistry, molecular biology assays, techniques such as immunoblotting, qPCR and RNA-sequencing analysis, etc. Perform experiments independently and as a team using transgenic mouse models of chronic inflammatory lung disease and conduct gene expression and proteomic studies. Conduct the proposed experiments, analyze (organize and record keeping), interpret and presentation data regularly in lab meetings. Present the findings in national/international conferences, participate in the preparation of original research articles/manuscripts in a timely manner and work with collaborates to develop grant proposals for research funding.
