The PRIGO University has already commenced the second decade of its existence, building on values like openness and pro-inclusiveness, equal access to education, respect for individual educational needs, relevance and efficacy.The academic staff of the PRIGO University work on research topics in the sphere of economic policy, social policy, public economy and administration, social work and related topics in the field of healthcare. We deal with economic policy and its institutional environment, especially with the impacts of changes in legislation on macroeconomic variables, the consequences of corruption and lobbying or the issue of the shadow economy. A large part of our research focuses on the issues of public budgets, tax policy and the impact of changes in tax legislation on the economy. In the field of social policy and social work, we focus on social services, the impact of demographic changes on the economy, the methodology of social work and related topics. Furthermore, issues of palliative care, hospice care, minority affairs and others. The VŠEO Research Institute is a branch of the PRIGO University located in Ostrava, which, besides its research activities in the field of basic and applied research, focuses mainly on providing an elite study of economics in the study program Economic Policy and Administration. The study is intended for exceptionally gifted students, ie those whose skills distribution reaches an extraordinary level of high creativity in the whole range of activities or in individual areas of intellectual ability, who in many cases have specific educational needs and students who are deeply interested in the subject.
