Thyroid disease during pregnancy is associated with a higher risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes including miscarriage, preterm birth and suboptimal neurodevelopment of the child. Recent studies indicate that incorporating physiological changes during pregnancy such as the thyroidal stimulation to hCG, and also the changes in thyroid function throughout pregnancy can help to better identify women at risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes. This project focuses on these new insights and also on setting-up an interventional study to investigate the effects of thyroid treatment. The currently advertised position comprises a collaboration between the Academic Center for Thyroid Diseases, Erasmus University Medical Center in Rotterdam (the Netherlands), and the International Peace Maternity & Child Health Hospital, Jiatong University in Shanghai (China).
