<p><strong>Position Description:</strong><br />
<br />
Position is in a translational laboratory involving innovative drug delivery platforms against cancer. Project will be focused on Brain cancer, with possible extensions into other cancers. This position is funded by an <span class="caps">NIH</span> grant that explores novel ways of delivering drugs through the blood brain barrier to cancer patients. Initial appointment is for one year with expected renewal through a second year contingent on funding and satisfactory performance.</p>
<p>Under general supervision, the incumbent will plan, develop, modify, and implement previously developed and original experimental procedures in a research laboratory exercising independent judgment based upon specialized theoretical knowledge of the applicable science. Provide direction and guidance to other technicians and personnel in the laboratory. Order and inventory laboratory supplies.</p>
<p><span class="caps">JOB</span> <span class="caps">DESCRIPTION</span>:</p>
<p>1. Confer with principal investigator in the planning, developing, and implementation of clinical/research projects; develop control procedures for test standardization.</p>
<p>2. Be comfortable working safely with radioactive materials.</p>
<p>3. Be proficient and competent in performing animal experiments/surgeries and must be able work with PI on animal protocol submissions. Specifically, must reliably be able to perform tail vein injections in mice.</p>
<p>4. Develop experimental techniques for specimen and tissue analyses utilized in complex laboratory procedures.</p>
<p>5. Perform standard cell culture and molecular biology (western blots, immunohistochemistry, etc.) techniques.</p>
<p>6. Review scientific journals, abstracts, and other research literature to obtain or verify additional information used in the design and development of original procedures or techniques related to the research/clinical projects.</p>
<p>7. Prepare detailed reports on the results of experiments; discuss with principal investigator the interpretation of the results and collaborate in the preparation of scientific manuscripts for publication.</p>
<p>8. Supervise and coordinate the operation, training, and staffing of laboratory activities; maintain facilities and equipment supplies; develop and establish laboratory work procedures, methods, and policies; schedule and determine work priorities; interview lower level technical applicants, recommend employee selection and related personnel actions.</p>
<p>9. Perform other related duties as assigned.<br />

<strong>Minimum Qualifications:</strong><br />
<p>1. Ph.D. degree in biology or related physical science.</p>
<p>2. High impact publications in related fields.<br />
