Applications are invited for a Ph.D. Student in Computational Structural Biology to join a dynamic, interdisciplinary team focusing on the use of biochemical, computational and structural methods to investigate the molecular mechanisms of enzymatic interactions implicated in disease phenotypes and the design of antibody-based molecules to modulate underlying biomolecular complexes. This large programme involves collaborations within the Kastritis Laboratory but also with companies inside the Biocenter in Halle (e.g. BioSolutions Gmbh). The wider programme of research already involves 3 appointed Staff scientists in charge, 3 Ph.D. students and 2 post-doctoral fellows, all located at the newly established Laboratory of Jun-Prof. Dr. Panagiotis L. Kastritis. In addition, during this cooperation between the Kastritis Lab and BioSolutions GmbH, up to 2 additional Ph.D. Students are expected to be recruited, latest 31st January 2020.
We are now seeking a Ph.D. student with skills in Computational Structural Biology to join this team. You will be pursuing a Ph.D. in structure-based antibody design, understanding the structure and function of biomolecular recognition underlying antibody-antigen complexes in silico. You should be creative, curious to learn new skills and computational biology protocols/methods and have problem-solving skills with attention to detail. You will join an integrated, well-funded team who will use Protein Chemistry, Cryo-Electron Microscopy and Computational Structural Biology to achieve our project aims.
You should have a Diploma or an MSc degree in a relevant field (Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Structural Biology, Informatics, Molecular Biophysics).
